Marico Limited is an Indian company, specialized towards health, wellness and beauty products. Marico had investments of 40.33% through the public, 59.60% through the promoters and 0.07% through the non-promoters- in Dec’19 quarter. It held 40.32% through the public and 0.08% through the non-promoters- in Mar’20 quarter. Comparison of the public shareholding pattern of the consecutive quarters of December 2019 and March 2020, shows following trends:
Increase in shareholding % – The Alternate Investment Funds reported a growth from 0.02% to 0.05%. The Financial Institutions/ Banks increased their holdings from 1.24% to 3.91%. Life Insurance Corporation Of India expanded from 1.08% to 3.66%. The Central Government/ State Government(s)/ President of India up-stepped from 0.21% to 0.23%. The shareholders having Individual share capital up to Rs. 2 Lacs upgraded in count- from 1,20,088 to 1,61,755; their values grew from 3.58% to 4.10%. Similarly, for the individuals, who were having Individual share capital in excess of Rs. 2 Lacs, the count went from 11 to 13 and the percentage rose from 0.55% to 0.60%. The Trusts elevated from 0.47% to 0.51%. HUF stepped up from 0.12% to 0.13%. The Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) widened their stakes from 0.36% to 0.42%. The Clearing Members incremented from 0.06% to 0.08%.
Decrease in shareholding % – The Mutual Funds decremented the overall bet- from 3.91% to 3.89%. The Foreign Portfolio Investors reduced the shares from 23.84% to 22.69%. Arisaig India Fund Limited lowered the parts from 2.03% to 1.27%. The Insurance Companies appeared with a dip from 4.31% to 2.66%. The Bodies Corporate lessened from 1.65% to 1.03%.
Uniformity in shareholding % – First State Investments Icvc- Stewart Investors Asia Pacific Leaders Fund at 3.99%, NBFCs registered with RBI at 0.01%, IEPF at 0.00%, Foreign Nationals at 0.00%, Foreign Portfolio Investor (Category – III) at 0.00% and Employee Trusts at 0.00% maintained uniformity in the values of both the quarters.
The number of public category shareholders enlarged from 1,27,443 to 1,70,840 in the March’20 quarter. The number of promoter and promoter group was constant at 24. The Non-promoter group includes Employee Benefit Trust. The promoters’ include the Mariwala family.
