India Car Sales March 2020

India’s leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold 83,792 vehicles, including 76,976 units in the domestic market, 2,104 units of domestic OEM sales and 4,712 units of exports in March 2020. This is 47 percentage drop when compared to march 2019.

If we look at the break up, then the company sold over 15,988 vehicles in the mini segment , which includes models like Alto & S-Presso. and over 40,519 vehicles in compact segment which includes vehicles like WagonR, Swift, Celirio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, TourS.
In the mid-size segment it sold 1,863 vehicles, 11904 in utility segment and 5966 in vans segment (Omni, Eeco)

Maruti Suzuki’s sales ended with 1,563,297 units for the financial year 2019-2020.

President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Limited, Mayank Pareek said 

“Vehicle sales was affected by the COVID 19 outbreak and the subsequent nationwide lockdown. However, the customer response to our newly launched models – the Altroz and the refreshed BSVI range is encouraging. Our BSIV vehicle stock is near zero in the entire network.

Tata Motors Limited sold 12,924 vehicles in March 2020, compared to 74,679 units during March 2019 in the domestic & international market.
For the finincial year 2020, tata motors sold 4,42,052 vehicles compared to 6,78,835 vehicles in the previous financial year, which is drop of 35 percent.

Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, M&M Limited, Veejay Ram Nakra said

“Our performance in March has been muted on account of the impact of the current lock-down related to Covid-19 and the disruption in our BS VI ramp-up plan. The latter was planned between February and March but was affected due to the challenges of parts supply from global and local suppliers. We have been able to clear our BS IV inventory, but for fewer than 100 vehicles. However, there are many vehicles that are sold, but not yet registered because of the closure of RTOs.”

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, sold a total of 4,76,043 vehicles in the financial year 2020 compared to 6,08,596 vehicles during financial year 2019.
In the month of march 2020 alone, the company sold 7401 vehicles which is a drop of a massive 88 percent when compared to previous year where in the company had sold 62952 vehicles
