Aditya Birla widened the stakes to 2.86% in Nerolac | Mar’20 qtr

Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited is one of the largest producers of industrial and decorative paint in India and is the part of the Kansai Group- Japan. In both the quarters of December 2019 and March 2020, it held 25.01% holdings from the public and about 74.99% from the promoter and promoter group. The other internal differences in the public shareholding patterns of both the quarters were:

Increase in shareholding % – Aditya Birla Sun Life Trustee Private Limited A/C Aditya Birla Sun Life Bal Bhavishya Yojna – Wealth Plan incremented the value from 2.62% to 2.86%. The Foreign Portfolio Investors appeared with a growth from 3.72% and 3.93%. The Insurance Companies rose their bet from 3.29% to 3.48%. The Trusts up-stepped from 0.04% to 0.06%. The Bodies Corporate increased their stakes from 0.73% to 0.76%. The Clearing Members climbed up from 0.09% to 0.14%. The LLP stepped up from 0.02% to 0.03%.

Decrease in shareholding % – The Mutual Funds lowered their holdings from 7.88% to 7.81%. Franklin Templeton MF reduced the value from 1.15% to 1.10%. The Alternate Investment Fund reported with a decrease from 0.92% to 0.71%. The Non-Resident Indians (NRI) down-stepped from 0.36% to 0.35%. The number of shareholders with Individual share capital up to Rs. 2 Lacs expanded from 46818 to 47998 and the holdings dipped from 7.04% to 6.90%. The shareholders with Individual share capital in excess of Rs. 2 Lacs contracted the holdings from 0.62% to 0.55%.

Unaltered shareholding % – Financial Institutions/ Banks at 0.01%, Central Government/ State Government(s)/ President of India at 0.00%, HUF at 0.21% and IEPF at 0.07% maintained their level in both the quarters.

DSP Equity and Bond Fund might have exited or sunk below 1.00% in Mar’20 quarter as it appeared only in Dec’19 pattern at 1.01%. Mirae Asset Mutual Fund and its affiliates and HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited might have heightened above 1.00% or have entered as a new shareholder in March’20 quarter at 1.32% and 1.10% respectively. The number of public shareholders widened from 50,934 to 52,151. There were no major changes in the pattern of promoter and promoter group.
