Bata India Limited is a shoe company, which is one of the largest manufacturers and retailers in the footwear industry in India. Over the years of its presence in the country, it has gained trust of the people. 47.04% of its shares came through the public category, 52.96% came through the promoters and group. These values were constant for both the quarters of December 2019 and March 2020. On comparison of the public shareholding patterns of the mentioned quarters, the following differences were observed:
Increase in shareholding % – The Mutual Funds elevated the parts from 14.88% to 15.40%. ADITYA BIRLA SUN LIFE TRUSTEE PRIVATE LIMITED A/C MUTUAL FUND increased the stakes from 2.70% to 2.98%. The Financial Institutions/ Banks upgraded from 0.26% to 0.47%. The Insurance Companies incremented their bet from 6.18% to 9.97%. The shareholders with Individual share capital up to Rs. 2 Lacs grew in count from 1,38,425 to 1,72,483 and the values rose from 11.22% to 11.83%.
Decrease in shareholding %- KOTAK A/C MUTUAL FUND reduced from 2.18% to 2.12%. KOTAK FUNDS – INDIA MIDCAP FUND lowered its shares from 1.96% to 1.79%. TATA A/C MUTUAL FUND contracted from 1.51% to 1.16%. The Foreign Portfolio Investors sunk from 11.13% to 9.24%. The LIFE INSURANCE CORPORATION OF INDIA went from 4.55% to 4.35%. The count of shareholders with Individual share capital in excess of Rs. 2 Lacs stepped down from 9 to 8 and the percentage shrunk from 0.55% to 0.47%. The Bodies Corporate minimized from 2.01% to 1.96%. The Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) reduced the values from 0.59% to 0.50%.
Unaltered shareholding % – The Central Government/ State Government(s)/ President of India at 0.00%, Director or Director’s Relatives at 0.00% and IEPF at 0.21% had unaltered values in both the quarters of Dec’19 and Mar’20.
AXIS A/C AXIS MUTUAL FUND, DSP A/C MUTUAL FUND and HDFC LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED might have entered as new shareholders or have stretched above 1.00% to appear in March 2020 quarter at 1.29%, 1.25% and 1.36% respectively. The number of public shareholders widened from 1,43,027 to 1,77,632.
